Ophiusa present their new studio album, Sen Planeta (‘without a planet'). In this second work band's sound is already identifiable and recognizable, even after experimenting an evolution to its electric and most eclectic side. If their debut album –Paos, finalist in spanish Premios de la Música 2008 awards– was based on popular global rythms (reggae, bluegrass) and Galician folk music (muiñeira, jota), Sen Planeta has made a turn to a contemporary style.
Recorded at their own studio (Pink), the album has been factured without pressure, which means with total freedom for the musicians, and that has given them the possibility of experimenting with no rush, of playing with music and with the possibilities of tools such as analogic synthesizers or sequencers. Again, all the songs included in the álbum were composed by the band members and self produced. Sen Planeta is a result of that absolute creative freedom and totally opposed to current music conventions.
For this album, Ophiusa has had the collaboration of some of the best Galician folk musicians such as Bieito Romero (Luar na Lubre), Óscar Fernández (bOnOvO), Benxamín Otero (Linho do Cuco) or guitarist Valentín Caamaño among others.
The band has already played at the most remarkable folk stages in Galicia and Spain: “Escenario Runas” at Festival de Ortigueira, Festival Irmandiño de Moeche, Festival Folk Cuartu de Los Valles (Asturias), Festa do Lugnasad in Bretoña or Festas do Apóstolo in Santiago de Compostela. Plus, Ophiusa has toured around the british islands and represented Galician country at Eisteddfod (Llangollen Festival, Wales). After that, the band has become one of the main referents of nowadays Galician folk.
